WE FINALLY MOVED !!! I am now blogging at WWW.BERLINAVIA.DE

Guys, many thanks for reading and liking this site now I can finally go on blogging more regularly on my new site .

Please check my new site and have fun , I am leaving for New York on Wednesday , so there´s gonna be a lot of interesting stuff to see and read !

I ´ve been blogging less in the past weeks as there are many projects and changes going on , however, there will be a lot more blogging soon you´ll definitely like. For now, I can finally present my new styling website with lots of nice editorials and ads!

TRENDWATCH : Clarissa Labin´s prints and fabrics for AW10

Clarissa Labin is not a new face in the industry, she already designed for Dior and H&M, but came back to Germany to launch her own collection in 2009 in Berlin.

If you look at her collection it becomes quite clear that she has learned a lot about the essentials of a succesful , modern womens line at H&M. She focuses on high quality knitwear in Scandinavian style , often with big braids , cool and arty prints and leather highlights. Her looks can be edgy , yet also a bit mainstream (using the typical silhouette of skinny for the bottom and oversized / voluminous pullovers, dresses, skirts and jackets), which makes her collection bound to be succesful !

LOOKBOOK.NEW : Butterflysoulfire

Berlin based avantgarde label Butterflysoulfire has found a very nice way of presenting their new lookbook, following the trend of using postcard-size images for every look and putting them into a nice box or envelope or wrapping – also seen at Acne and many other labels during press days – and additionally posting their new lookbook including slideshows and complete online lookbooks at www.i-tried-to-get-red.blogspot.com (stated in the envelope). It has style, just like their AW10 collection- I especially go for the coats!

The Berlin Press Days are a big sea of clothes, accessories, presentations, PR interns and impressions you try not to drown in. However, its a paradise for fashion lovers getting to see , touch and photograph all new A/W collections of young and upcoming as well as established international designers.

I picked out some pieces that caught my attention and that I found inspiring for next fall/winter.

In a few hours I am off to Berlin for the press days that take place twice a year . Showrooms and PR agencies in Berlin open their doors for two days to show their designers` new collections – it´s a bit like a city marathon and a come together – or at least a bumping into of all fashion-related Berliners and I am really excited to see the new collections of designers and labels like Diana Orving, Henrik Vibskov, Minimarket, Weekday, Kaviar Gauche, Raf Simons, Stine Goya , Acne …and many many more! See you in Berlin !

WASTED GERMAN YOUTH SHOP OPENING – “mein brand, mein Shop, mein block.”

MEGA FLEAMARKET Munich – next weekend

On April17th , the first Saturday of the Munich spring festival, the Red Cross traditionally hosts Bavaria´s biggest fleamarket at the Oktoberfest-location “Theresienwiese”. I must admit, I am a bit spoiled by the range of fleamarkets and vintage stores in Berlin, Zurich , Lisbon and other European cities, but just the size of this fleamarket and the thought of all the closets with vintage designer stuff , jewellry and shoes that are gonna be emptied by more or less professional sellers to clean up for spring is getting me more and more excited. So, I am quickly gonna make my way from the Berlin Press Days (www.berlin-press-days.de) to Bavarian fleamarket treasures on the weekend. (The fleamarket is from 7am-4pm)

COS LOOKS – modern classics, some yellow and the drawcords for men

I really believe in some COS designs, I do. I already saw that drawcord windbreaker in a GQ editorial and loved it. COS is fashion forward for the masses, just have to pick out the right pieces.

2 YRS OF LE CHÂTEAU EN COULEUR – A FEW QUESTIONS FOR TOBIAS HEUMANN

I already announced that I would do a little interview with the lovely guy behind Le Château en Couleur , Tobias Heumann, as there is soon a big party for the 2nd anniversary of his label. I had too much wine that evening and an overdose of Erol Alkan, so I apologise for the delayed publishing.

Tobias, you´re just 21 and you are right in the middle of your studies at AMD in Munich , but you are already celebrating the 2nd anniversary of your label. When and how did it all start?

It started in 2008 when I began to sew stuff together with my girlfriend back then. Her mom was a designer and taught us a lot. We really got into it and an important part of my A-levels was a work about bags and packaging. I finally founded the label”le Château en Couleur” in March 2008 and sold the bags online and at SpielbarTragbar in Munich. Now there are distributors in several German cities.

Did you all build it up on your own or are there persons who mainly supported you in this time?

Of course, there has always been support from friends and people who like my designs, and thank God I can deal with graphic design for websites and all that necessary stuff myself . I work together with Nicolas Droessel for the photos of my collections and I am very glad I could get to work with Patrick Mohr on a bag for a collection and experience such professional work at an early stage.

Who or what inspires you, what aesthetics are the basis for your designs?

I find inspiration in beautiful moments, in conversations, sometimes in sleep as well. There is not a fixed basis, its more a feeling. It´s the details, decent details, that are really important to me.

Which materials do you mainly use , what are the bags made of?

I mostly use suede and nylon, sometimes also calfskin. All bags are handmade and unique and the cool thing is that you can pick one of our basic designs and the rest will be entirely custom made to your wishes.

You are also a DJ and one of the guys behind the “So Not Berlin” partys , what is your opinion on the connection between music and fashion, or the influence of music on fashion and vice versa.

Well, its obvious that fashion and music are connected , but very independent from each other at the same time – I´d call it a “not very harmonic” symbiosis. Its very interesting to follow the development that goes on in the US though, were electro DJs like the Designer Drugs boys have their very own influence on the fashion the kids are wearing, far away from its real origin in Europe.

Who would you like to collaborate with in the future?

There are definitely some friends like Martin (Mac) Meier , whom I´ve liked to work with for some time now.

Any idols ? … Music and fashion…

That might sound a bit cheesy, but its the same with both of them. If you put a lot of love and passion in what you do it automatically becomes admirable – no matter if I like it immediately or not.

Are there any concrete plans for future projects or collections?

I have a small T-shirt collection coming up together with a partner and a collaboration in the area of industrial design with one of my “idols”.

What is your goal with Le Château en Couleur in the future? Do you want to expand or can you imagine working on totally different projects later on?

Le Château en Couleur will always be my “baby” and at the moment I cant really imagine to expand into other areas with it cause I dont want to lose the respect for the idea that makes it what it is. However, I am of course always open for interesting, creative projects. Ideas cant be constrained – you have them or you dont.

It would be horrible for me if I couldnt do creative work anymore, but creativity and inspiration can be found everywhere, right?
